Welcome to the Internet site of Polycentric World Social Forum

These days the world is more internationally connected than ever. We do business in a world market; we have connections to other governments, and an interest in other countries social going ons. The things that happen in the international social arena have a way of affecting each and every one of us more than they ever would have the generations in our past. With communication technology like fax by email, Cordless Phones , that can go anywhere and everywhere, and smart phones the effect of our actions can also be internationally felt even faster than before.

The health of the economy in one country affects the health of the economy in another. This is because the world does so much business between companies there is very literally an active and thriving world market. It used to be most business was done within a country. Another unfortunate, but realist fact is that social issues between counties have to be closely monitored and sometimes dealt with on an international level. With the weapons that exist these days (while war is never good) the potential for war that is devastating to the world is always a possibility. To help in that regard, you can look into how to become FBI or CIA careers, or do something a simple as keep up with international news and be informed. Also, advances in almost every area- medical, science, technology, etc.- makes amazing leaps and bounds now that people from all over the country have started working together and exchanging ideas. Hundreds of new jobs have been created by the craze of the Internet, people make money from advertising online, playing casino games and creating large social networks such as Facebook.

Knowing we have established an international community that affects us means we must also recognize that, as with all good relationships, clear communication needs to remain open. Places like our social forum help people communicate what is going on and their thoughts on the matter. Of course there will be problems. The world is full of many different view points held by passionate people. There are many different ways of life to be considered. However, even though there are issues to be solved it is important to remember that a different world is possible. It helps spread different points of view, so we can make sure our relationship works smoothly and is the best it can be.

The forum of Bamako, a global event!

The forum of Bamako is one among the three polycentric events planned for January 2006; the two other events should take place simultaneously from January 24th to 29th respectively in Caracas (Venezuela) and Karachi (Pakistan).

As a global event, the forum of Bamako participates to the whole dynamic of the World Social Forum which is a frame of concertation and dialogue, of information and experiences exchange, of fights and popular resistances; But the forum of Bamako is also a space to make credible and good alternatives for more consideration to initiatives toward building “Another Possible World”.

The forum of Bamako, a significant political event!

The forum of Bamako is of paramount importance to People in Africa who are victimized of the neo liberal system which is itself synonymous to violence, suffering, and poverty and exclusion to over one third of the global population. This meeting will thus offer to progressive forces in Africa a very first opportunity, following to the huge range of popular resistances during the nineties, to significantly set their fights and their alternatives in a global seeking of the construction of a fair world with more solidarity and respectful of People’s sovereignty.

The forum of Bamako, an enrooted cultural event!

The forum of Bamako takes roots both in the rich Malian and African cultural soil which makes Mali’s cultural patrimony. This meeting will thus offer the opportunity to visitors to find out Mali’s past and present symbolic places such as:

  • Djénné, the fascinating city
  • The mystic dogon country
  • Tombouctou, the mysterious

The forum of Bamako, a popular event

Dedicated to high-quality Thermal Paper Rolls , resolutely popular characteristic, the organizers bet to meet the Malian people on places (markets, workshops, factories, fields...) where women as well as men are daily fighting for a better life. The «World Social Territory» of the forum of Bamako is situated at the core of the event’s Host-city!

Besides, the organizers have focused the forum accommodation system on the fact of «hosting to the inhabitant’s», like “Diatiguiya", an old and traditional hospitality principle of the country. This indicates that, as participants to the forum, you will be welcome in Malian families (if you wish) in the purpose of having long friendship and fraternity links with the family members.

The forum of Bamako, a festive and innovator event

Giant concerts and new activities are set to the program of this forum absolutely festive and innovation bearing!

Several well known international artists are expected to come to the forum space! A racing contest as a solidarity activity is planned to guarantee the sportive dimension in the forum’s dynamic. Having an international characteristic, this contest is open to both the two sexes, men and women, who will take over each one another according to the limit of their individual efforts, all along the «World Social Territory» of the forum.

Also a wide range of activities, that you may find out once on the space of the forum, are planned.

The forum of Bamako warmly welcomes you!

’’We shall be ready for the Event, No Doubt"
